2011 Convalescence Pay (Dmei Havra’a) Rates

Effective June 2011 the following rates are in effect for Havra’a pay:

Private sector = 365 shekels per day
Public sector = 411 shekels per day

The number of days an employee is entitled to with regard to Dmei Havra’a is according to their tenure with the current employer, provided they have completed at least one full year of tenure.
(In the public sector prior experience with other employers in the public sector are also taken into account)

Those who aren’t eligible because they have not completed 1 full year of tenure, will be eligible the next year at the new rate for the full year and the portion of the year they weren’t eligible for this year.

The following is the table of days for the private sector:

1 year———–5 days
2 – 3 years——6 days
4 -10 years——7 days
11-15 years——8 days
16-19 years——9 days
20 + years——-10 days

Example: an employee in the private sector with 7 years tenure with his employer would receive 7 days x 365 sh = 2,555 shekels.

This amount is gross and income tax, social security and health insurance will be deducted from it. Havra’a needs to be itemized seperately on the payslip. Usually it is paid in July’s salary.
